Takeshobo, BAMBOO COMICS Qpa Collection “Nagareboshi” is introduced here!!
The following is quoted from the back cover. Please note that the impressions and review do touch on the story’s content!! If you just want a quick idea of what it’s about, I’d be happy if you read only the red text and highlighted sections.
“Do you look at other people through your lens like that too?” …――――――
Tensei, a university student whose hobby is photography, Tensei (Tensei) finds his gaze captured through the lens when he encounters a man with a large burn scar on his face, Makito (Makito).
After turning away from the glamorous world of modeling, worn down by the stares directed at the scars he sustained in an accident,Makito now works at the local library, as if seeking refuge. Unaware of that past, Tensei gradually deepens their connection through the lending and borrowing of books, until he finds himself unconsciously captivated by Makito’s fleeting, beautiful profile—and before he knows it, he raises his camera toward him.
Each time Tensei looks at Makito through the lens, he becomes aware of the uncontrollable feelings growing stronger within him— and just as he realizes that pull, a man claiming to be one of Makito’s former modeling colleagues appears to take him back―――…?
From Takeshobo, BAMBOO COMICS Qpa Collection “Nagareboshi”
A must-read for anyone who loves fragile, fleeting characters!!!
Among all the works by my beloved Miginoyagi-sensei, I honestly feel that Makito might be the most exceptionally fragile character of them all. The pairing of the beautifully delicate Makito and Tensei, who is pure-hearted and finds himself unconsciously drawn to Makito is an absolute bullseye for me (^^). Honestly, I don’t think there’s anyone who could dislike this combination!!? (Please note: this is delivered with a highly enthusiastic and very biased perspective)
Makito, who originally worked as a model, suffers a severe burn to his face due to an accident. He tried to conceal it so it wouldn’t be visible during work, but over time, the stares and words from those around him began to wear him down emotionally. Eventually, he steps away from his career and decides to work as a librarian at a library in a certain town.
When Tensei happens to visit an old, almost ruin-like historic library, he is left utterly captivated by Makito’s beauty the very first time he sees him. It’s truly a moment where the depiction is so beautifully rendered that it deserves special attention (^^).
Unaware of Makito’s past, Tensei originally has a passion for photography, especially when it comes to capturing the sky. The very first person he ever feels the urge to photograph is Makito—and right there, the heart-fluttering moments come rushing in…!! Seeing Tensei raise his camera, the sheer coolness he exudes…!!! I love it!!! Alone together beneath the night sky, they slowly begin to understand each other as people, and as Tensei finds himself drawn in even more, I couldn’t help but agree with every step of his growing feelings…!!
As the distance between the two rapidly closes, the story takes an unexpected intimate turn that leaves readers’ hearts racing!! (and yes, that’s a compliment) While it doesn’t go all the way, they end up unexpectedly comforting one another… After that, those feelings only become stronger—mainly for Tensei—and startled by the emotions he finds himself harboring, he ends up fleeing the scene.
One day, due to an unexpected turn of events, a photo of Makito taken by Tensei ends up circulating on social media. After seeing it, a man who was once Makito’s colleague during his modeling days comes searching for him—Yosuke appears. He comes to plead with Makito to return to modeling, and this flashback to their shared past is one of my favorite parts of the story—definitely a moment I hope you’ll experience by reading it yourself! (^^)
Please be sure to see where things lead for Tensei, who finds himself completely swept away by Makito and his playful, mischievous side!
