Amekiri’s second comic volume, featuring two stories!

This is the work that introduced me to Amekiri-sensei (＾＾). I couldn’t help but fall in love with how adorable Sui looks on the cover, and it’s a title I’d been eagerly watching ever since its release. It’s a comic where you can enjoy two stories: one about two boys living together in a school dorm and another about next-door neighbors! I’d like to talk about them separately!

Harutora, a black-haired underclassman devoted to his club activities × Sui, a masked upperclassman who hides his emotions

I’d like to start by talking about the story of the two boys living together in the school dorm (＾＾).

In the closed environment of dorm life, where only a limited number of students live together, Sui began wearing a mask to hide his expressions after being outed as gay. As he advances to his second year, Harutora moves into what had been a lonely room he’d been occupying on his own.

Used to being teased by his friends about his sexuality and deflecting their remarks behind a mask, Sui gradually finds himself drawn to Harutora’s straightforward dedication to his club activities.

Just because they ended up as roommates doesn’t mean everyone is trying to make a move, yet Sui ends up hurt by a few careless remarks. Seeing this, Harutora tries to protect Sui and offers to listen to him. Understanding that Sui’s behavior is a form of self-defense meant to avoid making things awkward with those around him, Harutora sincerely faces him, trying his best to help in any way he can while respecting Sui’s true feelings—the sheer earnestness of this underclassman…!!(the absolute best)

Sui’s expression when his emotions finally overflow is absolutely irresistible, and I found myself crying my eyes out in pure empathy… an unexpected tear-therapy moment… Harutora’s puppy-like yet wolfish side also makes my heart flutter nonstop! He’s just too cute!! It really makes you realize how dazzling pure, natural sincerity can be—I was practically blinded by the brightness (+_+)

A high schooler who’s grown resigned to a lonely life × a slightly offbeat working adult with a secret hobby

This is a story different from the main title, focusing on a high school student and a working adult who lives next door (＾＾).

Up until then, En, a high school student, had only exchanged the bare minimum of greetings with his next-door neighbor, Toru (亨). However, due to a slightly unusual trigger, the two end up talking. Since it’s central to the story, I’ll leave the details unspoiled—but the shyly endearing working adult Toru and En, who has felt lonely within his own family, slowly open up to each other as they talk. The way they gradually meet each other halfway is just wonderful.

The process by which the two of them gradually come to care for each other is wonderfully slow-burning and a little frustrating in the best way, so I really hope you’ll read it for yourself (＾＾). The voices that slip out unintentionally and the expressions captured in those striking panels are just so good. Personally, I can’t help but wonder what comes next—I’d be thrilled if there were a continuation someday…

I love both stories for their blushing boys and Amekiri-sensei’s handwritten notes scattered throughout the panels—they’re so charming and fun! Please give it a read and let’s all enjoy that deliciously awkward, heart-fluttering feeling together (/ω＼)
