Introducing “Zurui Hito ni Hirowaremashita, Vol. 1” from Brite Publishing’s Tulle Comics!
Below is an excerpt from the back cover. This post includes impressions and reviews that touch on the story! If you just want a quick idea of what it’s about, I’d be happy if you read only the red text and highlighted parts.
“You should’ve come to me sooner.” …―――――
Due to certain circumstances, Makoto runs away from home and is taken in by Hazuki, a drunken man, ending up living with him as a freeloader. Hazuki is a 30-year-old single man—an alcoholic, a womanizer, and far too free-spirited—and Makoto finds himself taking care of him day after day. Though sloppy, Hazuki shows a kindness in letting Makoto stay by his side without prying into his circumstances, and little by little, Makoto’s heart begins to heal. But even knowing that Hazuki doesn’t form special attachments, Makoto still finds himself falling for him…?
From Brite Publishing Tulle Comics “Zurui Hito ni Hirowaremashita, Vol. 1”
This was the work that introduced me to Usui Shippo-sensei, and it’s said to be her very first BL title! Rather than matching the kind of atmosphere I’d been used to from what I’d read before, this story carries a slightly unusual, distinctive vibe.
I feel like I fell straight into the trap—perfectly (^^).
Honestly, “sneaky” really does mean sneaky. The gestures, the glances, and that carefree freedom you somehow can’t bring yourself to hate—thank goodness this is all fiction—those are all part of Hazuki’s charm. His attitude toward Makoto, who can’t help but feel emotions that make him want to devote himself completely and desperately tries to sound the alarm within himself, is just too much. It only takes a few pages before you’re screaming “Run!!” in your head.
I’m completely hooked at this point.
Just when you think it’s all a lighthearted, comedy-style development, Makoto suddenly breaks down in tears—wait, don’t cry, grab the tissues!! It keeps you emotionally busy the whole time (^^). You can take your time savoring the story, but then a new character suddenly appears. Since this is the first volume, it ends right at a point that leaves you wanting more. As you continue to watch the path these two walk together, a gentle warmth naturally seeps into your heart. Highly recommended for when you want to be softly healed by human connection.
You can also enjoy the guilty thrill of peeking into their heart-pounding life under the same roof…!!
