Introducing “SUPER LOVERS” from Kadokawa ASUKA COMICS CL DX!
The following is quoted from the back cover. This review does touch on the story’s content! If you just want a quick summary!! I’d be happy if you read only the red text and highlighted sections.
“Want to become family with me?—And then… want to feel your heart race even more?”
A high school student who ends up traveling overseas after being tricked by news that his mother is critically ill, Haru Kaito (海棠 晴), suddenly finds himself being introduced to a boy named Ren (零), who claims, “I’m your younger brother!” Haru desperately takes care of Ren, a wild child who won’t listen to anyone, but it seems Ren is hiding a secret about his birth. On top of that, just as Ren finally begins to grow attached only to Haru, a certain tragedy strikes Haru. —And then, five years later, Haru reunites with a grown-up Ren…?
A troublesome, anything-but-simple love story unfolds with four brothers: a long-suffering eldest son, stunningly beautiful twins, and a wild youngest sibling!!
From Kadokawa ASUKA COMICS CL DX “SUPER LOVERS Vol. 1”
The sheer preciousness of the interactions shared by these four incredibly handsome brothers…!!
This was the work that introduced me to Abe Miyuki (あべ美幸) (^^). I had the impression that she mainly created long-running series, so I’d been curious but hadn’t quite gotten around to reading them—then I spotted several of her volumes lined up at a bookstore, was instantly drawn in by the covers, binge-read them all at once, and fell completely hooked (super fast).
It’s a story that’s easy to keep reading and constantly makes you want to know what happens next, and every chapter is so heart-pounding that the sheer beauty of the faces practically leaps off the page. (That’s a compliment.) Absolutely amazing (^^)!!!
Five years ago, Haru, the long-suffering eldest son who suddenly had to travel overseas after being called by a mother he hadn’t been in touch with for years, receives a certain request from his mother, Haruko, upon arrival. That request is to look after Ren, a rambunctious boy who’s practically a wild child—and to help correct his lifestyle so he can live a life a little closer to that of an ordinary human. Having decided to take Ren in without fully understanding what he was getting into, Haru quickly learns that it won’t be simple at all. And yet, it’s so much fun. There’s really no situation rarer than a handsome guy being completely run ragged like this, is there (^^)?
Haru is such a devoted big brother that he always puts his younger brothers first, leaving himself as an afterthought…
Having long been used to taking care of the younger brothers born from his mother’s remarriage, Haru always put himself second. He then spends almost an entire fleeting summer vacation together with Ren, the newly added youngest brother, whom his biological mother suddenly summoned him overseas to take in. After that, the setting shifts to Japan. A sudden, heartbreaking incident strikes Haru’s parents, and from this point on, the story takes a dramatic turn.
Five years after the tragic event, Haru has lost his memories and becomes a host in order to support his younger brothers. Wanting to earn a lot of money quickly to help pay for their education, even his lack of memories gradually becomes just another part of his everyday life. Then, just as things seem routine, Ren suddenly arrives in Japan all the way from Canada.
Despite having no memories, Haru is told they’ll be living together, and there’s all the trouble that comes before he can tell his twin younger brothers, Shima and Aki, that he has a new brother. The detailed emotional monologues and carefully drawn backgrounds make it easy to immerse yourself in the characters’ feelings. The way loneliness and helpless emotions are expressed creates deeply poignant scenes that are truly rewarding to read.
Since Volume 1 is still just the prologue, I highly recommend binge-reading the series. There are so many adorable scenes to enjoy—Haru in his host outfit, the younger brothers in their school uniforms, and the wild child’s innocent sleeping face—so I hope to keep updating this blog as future volumes are released (^^).
